Rampant Roosters Morris dancing side was formed at Dorking in July 1993 as a mixed Cotswold team (or Side). A sociable bunch, we have our own particular lively, fun approach to dancing the best that we can.
We have always danced in the Cotswold tradition, mainly Adderbury and Bledington styles, but also interesting dances from other traditions such as Badby, Fieldtown and Lichfield – with a couple of Border dances as well for added ooomph!
Our Morris dancing season is very often (unsurprisingly!) near pubs in Surrey/Sussex, but we enjoy Morris dancing further afield and with other Sides too. We have also Morris danced abroad at Lille, France, around Paderborn, Germany, near Dublin, Ireland, Tuscany, Italy, and Sicily in 2006 .
If you want to go Morris dancing with the stars then a few of our original members remain and as a Side we are always pleased to welcome new members. Our talented musicians provide the vital rhythmic lift and instrumentation for the dancers. Even if you have Welsh, Scottish or Irish Dancing in your blood then give English Morris Dancing a try and we are sure you will enjoy it as well.
