Rampant Rooster Constitution

Aims of the Side:

The main aim of the Side is to dance, have fun and to entertain!

We recognise that the Morris is a living and evolving tradition; we will try to maintain a high standard of performance which does not conflict with our main aim.

We are a mixed sex Morris Side where all of us are regarded as performers and so we have no concern for sets looking symmetrical with regard to the positions of men and women within the set – no division will be made with regard to gender.

As members we should be loyal to our Side but we are happy if our fellow members wish to perform with other Sides (whether in our Kit or not) and we will – wherever possible – give people from other Sides the opportunity to dance with us if they so wish

Guideline Rules:

• A member of the Side is defined as a person having kit and paying the annual subscription

• A member has voting rights at the AGM and whenever any item is discussed by the Side

• Anyone who attends practices is welcomed. The £1 per practice for the nightly attendance is collected by the Bagman from all, whether members or non-members

• The decision about whether a person is to kit up and dance/play out is made jointly by Squire/Foreman/ Lead Musician and is at their discretion

• An Annual General Meeting will be held each year in September or October at an agreeable date to be decided by the Side

• Election of Officers will be held at the AGM each year.

• Persons must be nominated and seconded by others of the Side and must also want to take on the position.

• Where more than 1 person is nominated for each place then a vote by ballot will be carried out by all members present at the AGM
